Getting Settled

Well we've been here for four weeks to the day. Its been a whirlwind to say the least. We were welcomed by our Hawaii family, Vicki, Kendra, and Ruby with a welcome home banner strung across the door, mai lai, and sushi. Of course, I cant forget about the beautiful flowers they put in our new home, with the help of Judy, Vicki's best friend. The next day, Travis and Penny became sick with fevers, chills, and body aches. Not what we had expected during our first week, but we made the best of it.

Four days later, Frank, Travis' best buddy, came out for the next week to help us with the move. Although, we made sure to get some sights in, so it wasn't all just work for him. We are very grateful to have such a wonderful friend in Frank.

The container has come and gone, and our car arrived in Hilo for us on the 8th of February. We still have to register it in Hawaii, that's next on our to do list.

We also need to get our drivers licenses' switched over, especially mine, it'll be expiring in a few short weeks.

Travis' home office is about 90% completed, we still have to clean a few things up and hang pictures on the wall. Penny's room, I's say, is about 75% completed. We have a little more painting to do, then all of her belongings need to be unpacked and furniture assembled. Hopefully she'll be sleeping in her own room by the weekend.

We'll be traveling back to California in about a month, it'll be nice to see everyone and catch up, grab a bite at Cho Cho San.

Until then, I'll keep the posts and pictures coming. We miss everyone very much, and we'll see you soon for Tammi's wedding!

Aloha!

Shipping Day.

Well its January 25th, and our container should be on a boat right about now getting ready to sail the open seas. Next stop: Hilo; Hawaii!

Our car is another story. This whole time we assumed our car and container would go on the same ship. Boy, were we wrong. Apparently, for whatever reason, vehicles must stop through Honolulu first before moving onto Hilo. So the car ships Saturday; the 28th but wont be in our hands until the 14th of February.....HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO US. lol.

We're getting really anxious and everything is becoming very real now that all of our belongings are in someone else's hands. It'll be sad, and tears will be shed but we feel it's whats best for our family. We'll miss everyone, but just remember our first trip to Cali (weird) will be on March 28th so mark your calendars! We'll be here for about three weeks.

See you soon home.

Aloha,
Mrs. Premo

One Step Closer.

We received our Matson container on Monday; January 16th. Since then we've hit the ground running with trying to load the darn thing. We have seven days to fill it. It shouldn't be too hard considering we've loaded U-Haul trucks in shorter times.
Day 1: Bought materials from Lowe's to build our ramp in order to load the container. Matson was kind enough to raise it 5 feet off the ground, and they don't provide ramps. Something to think about if any of you follow us to the island one day. Also, something to think about is it doesn't lock. So we had to buy several pad locks to keep it secure at night. (Matson left that tid-bit out) For something so expensive, you sure don't get much for your money.
Day 2: Travis built our ramp in just under an hour and a half, and we can begin loading, But at this point its 45 degrees outside and 8:15pm. We're pooped. We got about a half dozen boxes inside.
Day 3: I have just finished packing box number 36, now I'm waiting for the hubby to get home, so we can put a major dent into filling this sucker.

Love,
Nikki

Dreaming

Dreaming, downsizing, and packing. Those are the three components that are consuming our busy lives these days.
We just announced that the Premo family will be leaving their comfort zone of the musty, noisy, and congested life of the San Fernando Valley to the warm, beautiful, and peaceful life of Pahoa, Hawaii.
Back in October, 2011 we traveled to the Big Island to make an offer on what would be our home. Since we married in 2008, we've moved several times. This will be the fifth and final move for many years.
This blog is dedicated to all our family and friends, who we don't like to think that we are leaving behind but rather we'll just be seeing you all later. We will write often to catch you up on all of our shenanigans. The adventure has just begun.

Aloha,
Travis, Nikki, & Penny
